首都机场临空经济示范区，位于北京市主城区东北部，地处首都国际机场周边，面积约115.7平方公里，是我国最早建设的临空经济区之一，是我国目前规模最大、航空服务企业数量最多、国际化程度最高、经济体量最大的机场临空区。2020年9月21日，国务院印发《中国（北京）自由贸易试验区总体方案》。中国（北京）自由贸易试验区国际商务服务片区顺义组团围绕首都机场周边规划布局，包括天竺综合保税区、临空经济核心区、中德国际合作产业园、新国展等功能区，地域面积 28.5 平方公里。
在北京自贸试验区总体方案中，首都机场临空经济示范区产业发展的主体区域被纳入国际商务服务片区，是我国自贸试验区中为数不多的空港型产业功能区域。
首都机场临空经济示范区紧紧围绕首都国际机场这一得天独厚的区位优势，持续推进临空经济快速发展，为区域经济社会发展提供了重要支撑。空港辐射带动强劲，首都国际机场是全国首个同时拥有三个航站楼、3条跑道的大型国际枢纽机场，旅客吞吐量连续10年全球排名第二。航空资源高度集聚，聚集了400余家航空类企业，航空业直接关联企业数量占北京地区航空企业总数的三分之二，航空资源和航空企业总部集聚度全国领先。临空产业基础雄厚，区域经济规模不断扩大，产业体系不断完善，综合竞争力位居全国临空经济区前列。对外开放起点更高，作为第一国门所在地，是北京建设国际交往中心的重要支撑，多年来不断推进航空服务领域高水平开放，促进航空服务业开放创新发展。
产业布局上，首都机场临空经济示范区强化航空服务业、口岸贸易及商务会展,积极拓展科技服务、新兴金融和文化旅游业,全面构建高端临空产业体系。截至目前，已吸引了20多个国家和地区的7000余家中外企业入驻，聚集了33家世界500强投资企业近百个，总部型企业70余家，央企、国企分支机构130余家，外资企业500余家，高新技术企业百余家。在航空枢纽建设、高端临空产业集聚、港产城融合发展方面处于全国领先水平。
未来，示范区将加快建设世界级航空枢纽，不断探索制度创新、完善开放机制、优化开放环境，全力将首都机场临空经济示范区建设成为临空经济创新引领先行示范区，为首都对外开放贡献新的力量。
Located in the northeast of the capital of Beijing, the Beijing Capital International Airport Economy Demonstration Zone (115.7 km2) is the largest airport economic zone of China with the highest degree of internationalization and the most extensive aviation services companies.
On September 21, 2020, the State Council released the Master Plan for the China (Beijing) Pilot Free Trade Zone (BFTZ). In the planning of the BFTZ, the main part of the Beijing Capital International Airport Economy Demonstration Zone has included into the International Business Service Area (Shunyi) of the BFTZ, making it among few airport-related economic zones in China’s free trade zones. The International Business Service Area (Shunyi) of the BFTZ, constructed around the Beijing Capital International Airport (PEK), covers 28.5 km2 and includes the Tianzhu Free Trade Zone, the Beijing Airport Economic Core Zone, the Sino-German International Cooperation Industrial Park, the New International Exhibition Center, and other functional areas.
The Beijing Capital International Airport is the largest airport in China with 3 terminals and 3 runways and ranks 2nd in passenger traffic for 10 years in a row. Surrounding the Beijing Capital International Airport, the Beijing Capital International Airport Economy Demonstration Zone has played a crucial role in the development of China’s airport economy. The demonstration zone is leading in aviation resources and the number of aviation corporate headquarters. It has attracted over 400 aviation companies accounting for two-thirds of the total number of aviation enterprises in Beijing. With regional economy expanding and the industrial system improving, the demonstration zone has been steadily growing and has been among the best of the country's airport economic zones. As the gate of China, the demonstration zone is in support of Beijing as an international exchange center. Over the years, it has promoted China’s aviation industry to further open to more nations and regions.
In terms of industrial layout, the Beijing Capital International Airport Economy Demonstration Zone raises to a high-end airport industrial system with advanced aviation services, exhibitions, and expanded airport trade. It also strives for technology services, innovative financial services, and cultural tourism. Up to now, the demonstration zone has attracted more than 7000 enterprises across more than 20 countries and regions, including Fortune 500 investment enterprises, China’s state-owned corporations, foreign-funded companies, and high-tech firms. Consequently, the demonstration zone has achieved a leading position in the construction of aviation hubs, the gathering of high-end airport industry, and airport-city-industry integration.
In the following years, the Beijing Capital International Airport Economy Demonstration Zone will accelerate the construction of a world-class air transport hub, advancing in institutional innovation and opening up by expanding to wider partners. With an endeavor to build a leading demonstration zone in aviation sector, the demonstration zone will considerably contribute to the capital with further opening up to the world.
